What London is buzzing about this fashion week

Even if you don't work in fashion, there are plenty of reasons to get excited about this season's event.
Your current hairstyle is not ready to compete with that of runway models just yet? High-profile hair salon chain Toni & Guy has got you covered: all through the end of this month, its stylists are offering fashion week-inspired blowouts. At £35 (around €40) each, get a Disco Queen (inspired by Giles), Pony Power (Jean-Pierre Braganza), Hot Bun (Bora Aksu), or a Vintage Vision (Masha Ma). All styles come with a complimentary label.m product of your choice.

But that's not the only way you can get involved in the action: perfumer Diptyque gives you the opportunity to win its products during fashion week. In order to participate, snap the brand's fashion week car (a vintage Renault 4l covered in Diptyque prints), which will be driving around London through September 19, with your phone and send the picture to Twitter with hashtags #diptyque and #diptyquerenault. The five best photos (chosen by the brand and fashion blog Fashion Foie Gras) will receive a box of products as a prize.
Meanwhile, UK label Issa has come up with a different way of democratizing fashion week: after running an open casting call, a fresh face chosen from its fans will walk its catwalk on September 17. For its fall/winter collection next year, the house will even include a print designed by someone chosen from the public, via new site hotnewface.com.
Finally, Tom Ford is probably a long way from including the public in his shows, but at least he is showing his collection as part of the official schedule this time around, compared to last season where the time and place of his extravaganza were the fashion week's best-kept secret. His show is to take place on September 18 at 6pm.
